Beginning Beekeeper Course

Bee School Portal (for current students)

If you’re interested in becoming a beekeeper, or you’re a new beekeeper looking to gain more information, our annual Bee School is a great place to start. This North Carolina State Beekeepers Association (NCSBA)-approved course provides an overview of beekeeping and prepares you to keep bees. No prior experience is required to take the course.

This is a 22-hour course, held in person. The structured classes start on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, and will continue each Tuesday evening from approximately 6:30pm to 8:30pm through March 28 with a Field Day on Saturday, April 1.

It’s best to register for the course by January 13, so we have time to email you the appropriate links and collect any additional information. The cost of the course is $75.00 which includes $25.00 for local and state dues and materials. If your spouse or other member of your family wants to take the course and you can share the materials, then the cost for the additional person would be $25.00.

To register in advance, please use the below links or send your name, address, telephone number, and email along with your payment to: Alamance County Beekeepers, PO Box 512, Snow Camp, NC 27349. Please make checks payable to Alamance County Beekeepers.

We would also like to announce that in 2023, the Alamance County Farm Bureau will again be sponsoring a Cost-Share program. This is a program whereby a limited number of people are awarded two hives each, along with a package of bees for each hive. Information for how to apply to this program will be covered on the first evening of class.

Note: Any ACB member that is currently active in the club, and has taken the class prior, can retake the class for $10. Requires membership to the club and state ($25). No course materials will be supplied since the member has received them with the prior class.

If you have any questions about the course, please contact us.
