Beginning Beekeeper Course

Please note: that the class 2024 class has ended. We will offer a new class in January 2025.

If you’re interested in becoming a beekeeper, or you’re a new beekeeper looking to gain more information, our annual Bee School is a great place to start. This North Carolina State Beekeepers Association (NCSBA)-approved course provides an overview of beekeeping and prepares you to keep bees. No prior experience is required to take the course.

This is a 16-hour course, held in person. The structured classes start January 2025 and continue each Wednesday evening from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm through March with a Saturday Field Day. Classes are held in the Alamance County Center in Burlington.

The cost of the course is $75.00. This includes materials and $25.00 in dues for the Alamance County Beekeepers ($10.00) and NC State Beekeepers Association ($15.00). If your spouse or other family member wants to take the course and can share the materials, the cost for the additional person would be $25.00.

It’s best to register for the course early, so we have time to email you the appropriate links and collect any additional information. Registration opens in November.

To register, please use the link below or send your name, address, telephone number, and email address, along with your payment to: Alamance County Beekeepers, PO Box 512, Snow Camp, NC 27349. Please make checks payable to Alamance County Beekeepers.

Note: Any ACB member that is currently active in the club, and has taken the class prior, can retake the class for $10. Requires membership to the club and state ($25). No course materials will be supplied since the member has received them with the prior class.
